The land of solid minerals, Nasarawa State, is a state blessed with abundant talents that have been neglected and looked down upon over the years. Places like Keffi (where the State University is located), Lafia (the State capital) and Akwanga (where the State College of Education is located) have raw talents that are waiting to be harnessed.
Nasarawa State entertainment industry is a promising sector that would yield many profit to the State Government if only they invested in it. This is because with the kind of artistes emerging there, there’s no way the government would invest in them by sponsoring them without these artistes becoming superstars.
More so, by investing and sponsoring these artistes, the government would also help in curbing nuisance in the state as these youths would become independent and in turn, would also assist others.
From music to comedy to drama, Nasarawa State has it all. The “Yeriman Arewa”, Ozee is from Nasarawa State. This is a talented artiste that many people believe is better than Wizkid. Though he worked hard and made himself popular in Nigeria today, but can you imagine how popular and bigger he would’ve been if the government had invested in him.
Another popular artiste that has been neglected is Hamisu sodangi, popularly known as Raven. He is one of the best talents in the state and also one of the most talented Hausa rappers in Nigeria. He is from Nasarawa State (Makama Dogo). He went to Model Primary School and attended Government Secondary School, Bwari. Afterwards, he went to Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa and aquired Diploma Certificate which he later used to gain Direct Entry into the Nasarawa State University and graduated under Business Administration.
Furthermore, we also have talented and popular artistes that have not been identifying with the Nasarawa State Entertainment Industry due to negligence of the government to support artistes in the state. Nigerian legendary rapper, Terry Tha Rapman is from Nasarawa State but is identifying with Kaduna State. Also, the popular rapper and self-acclaimed “Sarkin Kaduna”, King Sniffy is from Nasarawa State but identifying with Kaduna State.
Conclusively, if the state government could invest in the entertainment industry, I believe Nasarawa State will flourish and it’s lost glory would be restored. Other artistes such as D.O.C, Teedon15, MC Rolex, MC Kure, Mr Alee, Seanblaq, Dannito, Suspi ,Mr Fresh, Elbo, Kappachino, Oplus, Sheks, jahbro, MacFab, Micman, AkFaree, Ace Alaba, Awamba, GenesisOfryhmes, Feddy, Nuweezy, Don Slim , Nastbreed, Mullasound, Yungswaggs and Tima, just to mention a few are also talented. Truth be told, Nasarawa State is not just the Home of Solid Minerals, but it’s also the “Home of Solid Talents”.
