Ahead of the 2019 general elections, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adopted the use of card readers during elections and has ruled out the electronic transmission of results.
This follows President Muhammadu Buhari's rejection of the Electoral Act amendment bill sent to him by the National Assembly.
The INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmud Yakubu said these cards will be deployed in every polling unit in the country just as it was done in 2015.
He disclosed this at a public hearing organised by the Joint National Assembly Committee on Electoral Matters and Political Parties Affairs.
